About DT Planetaries Inc.
The DT Hub came about from a situation that a trucking company owner had. His problem was that his trucks only needed planetary drive in certain situations and not full time. From that situation, the idea of having a hub that could be shifted from Direct Drive to Planetary Drive when the need arose was born.
In 1999 from a set of concept drawings, a set of prototype hubs were built by an engineering firm in Nisku Alberta Canada. During the course of testing it was evident that some refinement was needed, this would lead to a further two years of development. In 2001 testing on the prototype was done, which led to a limited production of the DT Hub, these hubs were manufactured in Germany, by a world leader in off road axles. With the help of a small number of truck owners, many in the oil industry, the next stage of testing took place. Through these tests the potential was starting to show, but further changes were made. Finally in 2003 after four years, from concept drawings to the DT Hub 03, we were sure that we had a product that could stand up to the most adverse conditions. Since 2003 the DT Hub has proven to be a very reliable product which is exactly what we set out to accomplish in the first place. As testament to this claim, one of the original test trucks from 2001, and now with a second owner, has just surpassed the million mile mark.
The DT Hub is a patented shiftable wheel hub marketed and installed by DT Planetaries Inc. of Edmonton Alberta Canada.
